Department of Bengali started its journey as one of the integral part of Silchar College in the year 1994 with distinguished and highly intellectual faculty members. The teachers who were initially appointed in the department left the College at a very early stage of its journey due to their selection in different reputed educational institutions of the Valley including Assam University. Henceforth, the Department has been continuously flourishing in the hands of dedicated and energetic faculties. From the very beginning the teachers of the department are imparting value based quality education. Apart from developing students’ language skills and comprehension, the department is committed to attract students’ interest in Bengali language and literature.
