Department of Philosophy started its journey as an indispensible part of Silchar College in the year 1994. The department at its inception has been graced with a single faculty but very soon another member joined the unit which really empowered the teaching learning process. Inspired by the values of great Indian Philosophers like Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Dr. Radhakrishnan and others, the faculties of the department work to create a healthy atmosphere conducive to value and quality in higher education among students. Through academic and co-curricular exercises, the faculties try to spread philosophical knowledge to the society.
